Have you been to the mall lately? I was in there a couple of months ago getting my haircut at Regis Salon. Outside of the salon is a kiosk called Kopter Krazy. I saw it, and as a man with a little boy inside I was immediately drawn to it. They had all sorts of RC helicopters on display. From little ones for $44 to the bigger for about $400. I was intrigued after watching him demonstrate the littlest one and listening to his excitement about them. I just had to have one.
I bought the Syma S-006 Alloy Shark for about $85. I rushed home immediately and opened up the package. This was actually kind of exciting. I put the ‘copter on the charger and let it charge for about 30 minutes. You should let it charge longer, but I was impatient. Soon, I was in the backyard flying my new toy helicopter. I didn’t get the hang of it right away. I never really got the hang of it. I actually crashed it pretty good. I had crashed it several times with no problems, but this time was bad. I retrieved it and put it back together. Just the body flew off but that went back on just fine. I flew it a few more times before I noticed it wasn’t flying quite right. Turns out I broke some part on the rotor shaft. I couldn’t fix it. Total flight time… about 30 minutes.
A couple days later I went back to the mall. I wanted to find out about parts. He told me to just google for RC helicopter parts or something close. While I was there I thought maybe I’ll get another one to play with until I can get the parts for my Alloy Shark. So I got the Double Horse 9087 for about $65. It is a little smaller but I figured I could fly it inside out of the wind. I’m sure the small breeze that was blowing had something to do with my first ‘copters crash.
I got home. Got her out of the box and charged up. I’m in my family room. It has carpet so I shouldn’t worry about crashing it too much. Within 10 minutes of lift off I had broken the rotor blade when it crashed from a height of 3 feet onto the CARPET. I was pissed. So, I got out the super glue and glued it back together. I waited roughly 10 minutes and reassembled it. 5 minutes later I had broken both rotor blades and there was no gluing this back together. So, there I sit with $150 dollars in RC helicopters and I can’t fly them.
I jump on the computer and start searching for parts. I am pretty good at finding what I want on the internet so believe me when I tell you the parts aren’t to be found for either helicopter. I spent about an hour total looking.
On Christmas day I’m talking to my brother and I found out that he got his son the same helicopter at Kopter Krazy. He got the Double Horse 9087 and was able to play with it for about 10 minutes before the inevitable happened. He also looked for parts and couldn’t find them.
I did discover something very interesting while I was searching. You can order these wholesale by the crate and pay about half the cost you did at Kopter Krazy. Go to lightinthebox.com and you will be able to purchase the double horse for $49.99 and the Alloy Shark for $39.99. these are wholesale so you might have to buy more than one.
Now. To the moral of the story. I went to Hobbytown to see if they had the parts I needed. I mentioned what I purchased and the clerk simply said “I’m sorry”. Yes, so was I. They didn’t have the parts I needed. He also said that alot of people have come in looking for parts for these helicopters purchased at the mall. While at Hobbytown I saw that they had some small RC Helicopters. The clerk said they had all the parts they needed right there in the store should it break. This was great, I thought. Yesterday I went down and purchased the Blade MCX. This is a great little helicopter. I’ve got about 4 hours of flight time in, crashed it numerous times and it is still flying. So… if you really want to enjoy the money you spend, spend it on quality.
EDIT TO ADD: I was notified in the below comment that parts are now available for the S-006 Alloy Shark. They can be found on this page: Spare Parts for Alloy Shark

Hello Steve, After reading your article it is kind of ironic that you list a link to the Alloy shark and right below the listing is a link for spare parts. Also a little more research would also yield that the company Syma that makes this helicopter also makes several other models and most of the parts are interchangeable. Also Ebay is a great source for parts. I did a quick search and you can almost rebuild the entire helicopter with what I found today. As far as the 9087, the blades don’t break any easier than any other blades when crashed into objects. In this hobby you sometimes have to think outside the box when repairing a remote controlled helicopter. As far as the blades as you notice all the blades on 90% of all the helicopters out there attach the exact same way with a single screw. As long as you replace all (4) blades with replacement blades that are as long or slightly longer and as wide or slightly wider any blade will work. I have had several customers visit “Hobbytown” and by a set of replacement blades that were not made for the 9087 and they were infact slightly larger and the helicopter actually flies a bit better with the larger blades. As far as price for “wholesale” items that is the way the world works if you want a get a business license then order your items in bulk, yes you will get a discount. Obviously the mark up from wholesale covers Freight, and overhead for operating a business and the ease of buying and flying within the hour. If you want to wait a week and pay shipping you will always pay less. I am glad that you found a helicopter that suits your needs and you spent more money for it as well. Also by your own admission you have been on a learning curve with your helicopters. It is only commen sense that after 3 helicopters you would have more experience than your first experiences “in the wind” than you were when you purchased the Blade. I am sure you wouldn’t have the same opinion if you knew what the wholesale cost on this product is as well.
Thanks for the information, Dave. I have to say that you are correct about the blades being on the same page as the link I provided. I will say, however, that the blades were not there when I did my search a couple of months ago. I also found that on some of the RC forums out there, this was a question others had. They were searching for the blades themselves.
I was unaware that different blades could be used. I did a search based on the part numbers on the parts sheet the manufacturer provided. I was unsuccessful. I also did a search of ebay and came up short with the provided part numbers. If the manufacturer has now made them available, then it would seem likely others would make them available as well on ebay. I also see that the link to the 9087 doesn’t work anymore so it appears things have changed with that copter also.
As far as the blades not breaking any easier on the 9087, both I and my brother experienced the same thing. The blades broke very easily. One blade didn’t just break. It shattered on carpet. That to me means the blade was brittle.
The latest helicopter I bought has flexible blades so they withstand the crashes much better. The plastic is flexible enough that you can bend it without breaking it. It is also a 5 channel helicopter so the controls are different from the first two I purchased. I had to relearn how to fly this one.
I have been looking since December for replacement parts for the 9087. Thank you for the above information. We will have to try what has been suggested. I asked the guy at Krazy Kopter before I bought it if replacement parts were easy to obtain – he said yes, just look on the internet. But as everyone is finding out, it is not that easy. This December if I am at the mall & the booth is back, I will make it known to any potential customers that parts are not easy to get & to consider buying a different copter locally. Thanks again! My husband will be very happy!
Be very cautious of this dealer. check out his website, notice there is no phone number listed for any mall where he sells. No phone number on his business card and none in the “contact” section of his website. I broke the balance bar on my helicopter when it landed on the rug. I tried to order the part but the site won’t allow the part to be displayed. The sales guy at the mall said they have all the parts available, but it turns out it’s just a sales pitch. Now I’m stuck with a $45 copter I cannot use.
Agreed on the lower quality of the helis you find at the mall. If the seller doesnt have parts right there with the heli’s that’s a sign to beware of. Do yourself a favor and if you are looking to get into a hobby like Remote Control helicopters, do some research and then seek out the advice of your local hobby shop. Boise has a couple of them. Remote Control Hobbies on Overland and Maple Grove and Hobbytown as the other poster mentioned above.
Dave
I purchased two of the Eagle II helicopters from Kopter Krazy and have crashed them many times with no detrimental damage. I have flown them for at least 10 hours so far without a problem. They do take quite a bit of practice to handle the controls efficiently. Also, if you are looking for parts, try this website:
(removed broken link. Use google)
It lists all stores within the Treasure Valley.
Just purchased a V-Max for our teenage son this Christmas. The balance bar broke within 12 hours and the website states all parts are sold out. To say we are disappointed is the nicest things I could say. I will let as many people know not to purchase anything from these guys EVER!!!
Marie:
My son found a website that has parts, cheaper than what Kopter Krazy sells for.
http://www.ehirobo.com
Just look on the left column for v-max copter parts.
Dave. Its nice to see that your promoting your website after all of us break your cheap RCs that we paid 45 dollars for. I will never buy anything from you again. let alone your website..
I purchased a V-max a week ago this saturday from the Boise town sqaure location. I was so jazzed to finally have an R.C. copter. I live in oregon so you can imagine my disappointment after ten minutes of flight I bumped the wall and my copter went nuts and dropped to the floor. Know big deal the salesman let the display model drop from about ten feet to the hard floor, picked it up and started flying it again. Mine on the other hand has a electrical problem. the tail rotor motor doesn’t work. So now my wonderful flying machine can only go up and down. I plan on returning the v-max this weekend in hopes for an exchange, they clearly state NO REFUNDS! on their receipts. I certainly hope I don’t have to make a public display of my disappointment on the busiest day of the week in that place. but it has never stopped me before.
i have purchased a few helicopters from copter krazy and have had no problems whatsoever. i have broken my copters a few times because i am not a perfect pilot but all i had to do was go to the mall and john the guy that works there helped me out every time and got my copter working. i dont see why n e of you guys are complaining john is willing to help n e one out that has problems. last time i checked yesterday they had a three tool cases full of parts for all the helicopters. so i dont know where you guys are getting the idea they dont have parts. as far as paying for parts after you break the helicopter i dont see the problem. would you expect the ford dealership you bought your car from to fix it for free after you wrecked……hmmmm no. you would have to pay for it to get it fixed wouldn’t you. i think you guys are giving a local business a bad name without doing enough research shame on you.
btw thanks for all your help john
Well for all you you bloggers This is Dave, the owner of Kopter Krazy. I want to say to all of you previous posters that I appreciate all of your posts postive (Thanks Dave, and that was not me Jason) and negative. I and my business cannot grow without constructive comments like yours. I am a local guy who was born and raised in Boise and my famiy has been in Idaho for 150 years, so I am not some fly by night retailer that rolls in during the holidays and then disapears. That is why this year I built and am still building a website so that customers could contact me. I don’t have a phone number but do offer my email and I respond to every email. We are hear to sell a quality product at a fair price and offer the ability to repair your product. I will however take the time to apologize to the posters from last year (our first season in business) when I did not offer spare parts. This year we do carry every part for every helicopter we sell. My website is new and still under contruction and clearly states that if you need parts please contact me directly via email and I can get you any parts you need. As for prices being less online? My prices are very competative and infact the site referenced above is exactly the same price that I sell my parts for. Now since this is the “Boise Blogger” any of you can visit the kiosk and pick up your parts directly without a wait time or shipping expense so I guess in this example I am less expensive. As for durability (Tom) the product that is purposely crashed to the ground is the Skylark and it (CAN) do that over and over again without damage do to its light weight construction, your V-Max on the other hand is made of metal and hits the ground much harder due to it weighing 3x as much. Here’s the next question? Does anyone believe that they can crash these or any remote control helicopter (hobby store brand or mine) and expect them to come through undamaged time and time again? Well the answer is NO! Ask any “True” R/C hobbyist and crashing is part of the game. I offer a product that is fun, flies great and unlike my competition which for most of your information is not a hobby store. I promote “Hobby Town” all the time since they are the logical step once folks get the basics out of the way and want to experience 4channel and 6 channel models. My direct competition is Toys R US, Walmart, Target, ETC… The products that they sell are in some cases less expensive but, don’t fly very well, and when these brands break you are completely out of luck on repairing them. So, if you are a customer and have broken your helicopter and you choose not to purchase the parts to repair it then that is your choice. It wouldn’t make any difference in this case if you had bought it from me or a hobby store it would get fixed in either case. So in closing it amazes me how most of posts are completely misleading in reality trying to prevent customers from doing business with my business when every issue detailed in these posts we take care of on a daily basis to very happy return customers. Have a great Day! Dave.
Oh tom you will. they jerks. The BBB the media need to take this joker down
I worked for Kopter Krazy this past Christmas season so I am familiar with your problems. However, I flew copters every day for work without incident, so I’m not sure how yours broke so quickly. I do agree with several of the problems stated about the business though. I thought it was weird that there was no phone number but I was informed by my boss that this was because he didn’t want to be constantly fielding questions about broken helicopters. I was one of the top sales people and worked there successfully for over a month, however one day the owner felt it necessary to let me go (through email) only a few hours before my shift was to start. I understand this is legal, but certainly not very respectful. When I emailed him asking for an explanation he never found the time to get back to me. It’s interesting I was let go after questioning prices and inventory. Thank goodness I now have a legitimate job, offering more than 3% commission on overpriced foreign made products!
Dave- I could careless where you were born. And I know theres a lot of people upset with your business practices including myself. I research alot about the the kopters you sell. wholes sale cost is around 10- 30 dollars for each if your getting them through a middle man. And selling them for 45 and up. How can you justify selling something at 400 to 800 percent markup and not warranty or even fix them for free. I know that brookstone gives all of theirs a one year warranty and is half your price. right now 2 for $50 I know you also get a lot of pissed off customers from talking to the sales people in their. And this is also not the only blog on the internet ripping into your scam. Its funny you’ll come on here to protech your name but you wont take care of your customers for simple repairs that cost you little. There is no need to reply to this. I just hope you sleep good everynight knowing your stealing from the all the struggling familys in boise. Im calling you out for those people to read this so they don’t make the same mistake.
It looks as though I am not alone. Long story short. I am in Pocatello, Idaho — I too have lived here my 50 + years — and I too got sucked into this place during x-mas. Mine worked about .5 hour before it broke — on the carpet. I gotta a way cheap — only $50.00. FYI DAVE! I have already contacted the mall manager and will do so with every mall in Idaho. Plus I have already talked with Better Business Bureau. I would find a different place to pawn your crap! You give the malls a bad rep.
Okay, I went there the other day and purchased an AMAZING little thing called the S107. It cost $50 and it is BEAST! It can stay in one spot in the air, go forward, backward, and remain stationary in midair. It controlls beutifully and I haven’t crashed it once. i suggest you go back there and try it again and you
I also have the S-107 from Kopter Krazy. It cost me about $50. I don’t know how many times I have flown it, it has been alot. I also crash it once or twice per flight…. so crashed it at least 20-30 times. Most times, it just bounces back and keeps flying.
I have had some crashes that just were too much. Dave Gardner at KopterKrazy.com has all the parts you need to fix it up. I broke some blades and he had them in stock and I just popped them back on.
I also had a big crash where I bent my rotor shaft. I brought it back to him at the mall and he showed me how to fix it.
Yes these TOYS are easy to break, but they are also cheap. FYI, I also have a very expensive Heli made of Aluminum… HA!! That cost me $500 and I have only flown it twice because those parts are WAY to expensive to buy.
KopterKrazy sells TOYS not hobby enthusiast quality stuff. Bottom line, you can’t find a better toy heli than those from Kopter Krazy in the malls.

Let me just tell you I had a less than stellar experience at your little kiosk. The ditzy, gum-smacking teeny bopper was too busy socializing over at the Smart Smoke kiosk to notice me checking out the helicopters at KopterKrazy, and it literally took her over five minutes before she sauntered her way over to me, at which point she perched herself on the chair and set a fat, My Little Pony (or something of the like) coloring book upon her lap and opened her box of crayons. She then asked me if I had any questions, and somewhere in between texting on her phone and coloring, she attempted to give me information that was akin to that of which I could have gotten from my 9 year old son, and all the while couldn’t even be bothered to get up from her chair. I purchased a helicopter from her (and not because of anything she did or said, but because I was on a time crunch and needed a birthday present with a quickness), tried to pay cash, but she didn’t have the proper change. I then gave her a credit card, and unfortunately didn’t realize until I got home that she overcharged me by fifteen dollars! Maybe had she had the brains to actually staple both receipts together so I could have compared the one with the correct price from the computer to the one from the credit card machine where she manually typed in the price, rather than throwing one in my bag and handing me the other, then I would have noticed her blatant error right then and there. And what kind of so-called business doesn’t even check I.D.? I think all the bleach in her highlights sucked out what few brain cells she had left, and the remainder were obviously not spent learning customer service. Oh yeah, and then she tells me she’s the manager! Are you f***ing serious? And THEN, my boy opens up his birthday present only to discover that the “free” batteries she had given me for the remote were completely dead. I had to race to the store while my boy patiently waited, buy batteries, come back home, charged up the heli, only to find that the goddam thing broke in about ten minutes. Good times.
Here’s a positive review! I have had nothing but awesome customer service at the kiosk in the Spokane Valley Mall. I bought a micro and the controller switch was broken (wouldn’t stay on). They let me upgrade to a metal series U807. It works great and I have flown it a dozen times so far and lots of bad crashes. I also bought the large Eagle Power outdoor helicopter for $129.00. The helicopter and controller both lit up, but no power to the blades. Took it back today and they tested it with another controller, and it worked. They offered to give me one of their upgraded controllers (had metal precision knobs), but since I decided I wanted a medium size to fly indoors, they let me swap for a new HX28025 2.4 Ghz 4ch also priced at $129.00. That’s great customer service in my opinion—the Nordstroms of the hobby world. Now, as a lawyer with some knowledge of consumer protection laws, I would like to say the following. These r/c helicopters are delicate toys that haven’t been totally perfected yet. They are prone to break sooner or later. They are a risky product, both for the owner of the business (who I do not know), and for the purchaser. Risky for the customer because it’s probably going to break, and make you angry, and want to blame the seller. Risky for the seller because he takes all the blame for these delicate toys. He is selling an inherently “perishable” product that will often anger his customers. One option for him is to sell a different product that has low breakage and returns. For a funny example, Mr. Potato Heads. That’s a durable product. But do we want Potato Heads? No, we want cool helicopters, and if you buy the right one, and fly carefully, you should get some good use out of it. Until the Chinese perfect these and make crash-proof helicopters, I’m glad the seller takes the risk of bringing them to us, and I’ll take the risk of buying them. From my research, I think most of the helicopters they sell are good quality.
I bought a small helicopter (HX28018 Lark @ $37.00) at Krazycopter in Idaho Falls Mall on 1-1-2011. I live 1 and 1/2 hours away from Idaho Falls. When I got home I opened the box and found that the helicopter would not turn on or charge. Also the blades were all scratched up with dings in them. So I guess it was not a new one. I have written to KrazyKopters twice about what they will do for me and so far no response. If I get a respone I’ll post again. To say the least I am not a very satisfied customer.
Hi,
Just to follow up on my post , Dave Gardner responded the next day to my emails and sent me another helicopter to replace the one that did not work with in one week. The one he sent was brand new and works very well and has given me some fun learning to fly it. Thanks Dave for your quick response.
My name is Shane cherry, I work at the boise town square mall, at the place known as kopter krazy. I would like to inform you all kopterkrazy.com is fully active. I would also like to clear out the gray areas within this blog. What we offer: full money back for unopened items, electrical warranty out of box, spare parts for every kopter, a warehouse in eagle where repairs will be delt with in a timely fashion, and the dedication from all of our staff to have your needs met, as well as expanding to several locations. Now for another company called brookstone: not a helicopter company, cheaper helicopters at one point, but no longer for kopter krazys prices are very competitive, no spare parts, a 1 year protection plan that will replace your helicopter 1 time, no helicopter website, no further expansion into the sport as a 4-6 channel, just strickly salesman. Myself you come into boise and ill talk hobby lingo all day with you. As for helicopters breaking anything can happen, for ever action there is an opposite or equal reaction, you all should place that in your thoughts. No one jumps in a car and just knows how to drive, no one falls in love and just knows what to do. See what I mean? With our helicopters they will be easier then most, but you must first learn. I must be going now, but please feel free to come in to the boise town square mall and talk to me or contact Dave@kopterkrazy.com thank you all very much.
Hello everyone this is Shane, coming to you as an employee of this great company known as Kopter Krazy. Weve come along way from a single kiosk, to now having about 10-15 locations and more in the near future, though we are always in the risk of upset customers we strive to make everyone of our customers very happy with the product they purchase from us. As for helicopters we do understand all conserns of this product and now offer our own experince to help you get the parts online at kopterkrazy.com, and the ability to drop or send in your product to our warehouse located in Eagle ID. Thank you all very much and please stop in by the Boise Town Square mall. -Shane
I have to tell you that these kopter’s are all in fact crap. as a current employee I have seen these things fail right out of the box during a demonstration for the customer who just purchased the item. I also know that Dave very rarely will give you a refund or exchange. I would honestly say that about 1 in 5 Kopters is defective right out of the box. I had one experience with a speed and tech 4ch kopter that i sold to a customer. As a courtesy to the customer I offered to help set the kopter up right there in the mall, after connecting the battery and lifting off the rotor head failed and pieces from the kopter flew in all directions. I then proceeded to take another speed and tech 4 ch out, and the same exact thing happened. You really should not buy from this place. Employees for the most part are incompetent, and a simple google search will bring you to far more reputable places for half the price.
I cant believe S**** **** (I removed name for obvious reasons) would compare any Type of Love or Driving Scenario To a Reputable Kompany Like K.K. Dave Gardner is a Very decent individual that Keeps his word and does Guarantee Parts and His Kopters are Top notch. Try the S100 OR S 107.
S**** You Cant Drive or Keep a Female. Clackamas Misses Kopter Krazy and although they had Issues. Customer Satisfaction is still echoing in the halls……….Thanx Dave for Keeping your promise and dont let that guy put you in another Company disaster.
Your a good person to hand out 2nd chances. S**** never did Take care of his dues and told a lot of customers a lot of untrue promises in your name. S**** Is aware of his deeds and as long as he uses it as a learning tool, Your company will be fine. Only time will tell.

Thank you so much for all your comments. I was going to buy a couple of these. But, after reading your sincere and informative comments here, I changed my mind. Thank you for caring enough for others to post your comments. I’ll do the same for you. With much gratitude,
p.s. It’s my experience that a lot of fly-by-nighters set up a kiosk at local malls and sell their junk for outrageous prices, and then they’re nowhere to be found. These RC Helicopters can also be found at local Wal-mart store with a solid return policy and much more reasonable prices! But I’m looking on eBay and Amazon for even better deals. Thanks again.
I have worked at Kopter krazy for the past 3 years for the christmas season. I do know at my location everyone is told to progressively work their way up with the height they fly their helicopter. You can’t take a helicopter that flies 200+ ft in the air, that as soon as you take it out of the box your going to know how to fly it like a pro. Well um no it takes practice and of course it is a light weight product its not going to fly well if it is windy outside. It takes time why us at the kiosk can fly so well is that’s all we do for 8 hours straight. And I know it can be frustrating waiting for parts but at least they are available. I do enjoy working and selling the helicopters just remember they are not made of a material that wont break. You try falling from 200ft and tell me how you feel when you are done. This is part of the hobby is learning how to do it.
It is funny I went to the mall just the other day and i looked at the little helicopters that you have for sale. i then noticed this guy with his two kids (at the little play ground thingy) holding a helicopter that was enormous. What I find interesting is he was minding his own business so I asked him if he got that here at the mall and he he said no that his was an Logo 600 and I could get one from readyheli.com(order only ) He was very informative about the larger versions. I then walked over to the your place Dave, and well need to say I was not impressed. The little high school punk that you employ there told me that all the kopter crazy helicopters were much better then his. Come to find out this Logo 600 would literally destroy anything you sell. Why are your employees so rude, and why are they so (uninformed about ) the actually rc hobby. I did my own research and your employee said i could just pick up an Logo 600 just like his and fly it no problem, yet come to find out collective pitch helicopters are extremely hard to fly unlike your co axel bladed helicopters. Your employee also told me that all of your helicopters have tail gyros. how is that possibly when none of your helicopters are 6 channel or more? When I said that the guy who is holding the big has a tail gyro he said no he does not know what he is talking about? Really? he clearly does because he showed it to me and I literally saw the gyro sitting on the helicopter. Next time try and have these employees or just this one at least go through more training, your giving rc a bad name.
Andy
From Twin Falls, I purchased two of the smaller helicopters from Kopter Krazy and have had a lot of playing time before i crashed them and broke them. When I did brake them I went to Kopter Krazy .com and purchased the parts i needed for a very reasonable price with no shipping and arrived quickly. I have emailed Dave with question and problems and he has answered them very quickly.
Thank you
I think that it is funny that you are comparing the helicopters at readyheli.com to those at KopterKrazy. That is like comparing Fords and Chevys to Lamborghinis and Ferraris. Totally seperate classes. These are toys to help people get into the hobby, Dave even said that he promotes Hobby Town as the next step up. I am glad to find somebody enjoyed the hobby enough to provide us novices with some variety. I would never expect much out of salepeople in a kiosk at a mall. The people who really have a great knowledge of the different helicopters are going to be the people who can afford the “Ferraris and Lamboghinis”. You will not find them working for minimum wage at the mall. Hell, I work at a Fortune500 company and find that there are many useless and incompetent people among those in the $50 to $100K/year salary range. I am still a novice. I crash my copter often and get frustrated at my lack of skill but I know that I can not blame anybody but myself. If you find that you are a terrible pilot, my advice is be glad that you found out that you could not handle a $50 toy before you dove into a $700-$2500 model aircraft. Kudos to you Dave! I hope you have a good long run and bring many people hours of enjoyment as I have had.
cry… cry… cry… what a bunch of lilttle babys!!!
What do u people really expect!?!
Why do u think u deserve a bran new heilcopter after YOU broke it??
The guy that sold me my Kopter Krazy Eagle ($144 great price for that size) @ the Spokane Valley kiosk told me stright up I will break some things on it! thats why we have spare parts for you on our website & free shiping!! But they are a whole lot of fun! So I asked him what parts should I order ahead of time so I can fix my copter right away if I break something right a way. He said follow me I will show u! Walked me over to the computer at the kiosk @ pulled up the kopterkrazy.com website! Just a few clicks & got me up to speed where & how to get the parts!! I broke the B grip set 2 times but I can fly that thing like a champ now! I only paid $10 for the 2 B grip set!!! Come on people grow up!!
I will keep buying from Kopter Krazy in the Spokane Valley Mall! ! ! I have nothing but good things to say about my copter!!
Nitrus – Andy wasn’t comparing the two helicopters. He was pointing out the extreme lack of knowledge the Kopter Krazy employee exhibited because the employee didn’t know it was like comparing a Ferrari to a Ford.
JC – The employee was able to bring up the K.K. website and show you how to order these things specifically because of the “cry cry” crying by a “bunch of little babies”. You should be grateful and not so critical. If you read the original post you will see that we didn’t have this available to us. You’re welcome.
Very similar negative experience. My mom bought one of these for my son and spent more than she really should have. It lasted into the second charge if that because the controls never seemed to work. We were very careful with the copter but of course we crashed it since it never seemed to respond to the controls but the crashes were not bad. I’ve owned other copters and crashed them much harder and they continued to work. I think this one was defective out of the box.
I went tio the Kiosk and got no help other than being given a website. Dave is a liar when he says he responds to all inquiries because he hasn’t responded to the one I left on the website. Dave, if you’re sincere about appreciating feedback, here’s some: Don’t be afraid to refund or exchange your product unless you’re selling junk. If your supplier won’t take them back, get another one. The goodwill you’ll gain from doing things right will pay back many times over in the long run. I’ve left my number and you haven’t called. I plan to spend some time at the mall letting your potential customers know that your copters are junk and you ignore them when they have an honest case for asking for a refund. Pretty sure I’ll be able to cost you much more than you got out of my mom. Feel like I’ll be providing a public service that way and bringing you back some karma with a short turn around. Troy
I agree with Troy, they totally misinform people of what they are buying. I watched a guy buy one (again from that stupid kid with the backwards yellow glasses, lol dude that style was in like with vanilla ice in the 90s grow up). A person just bought still in the bag, box sealed, and wanted to exchange it and of course he told them no. The poor lady about cried because she had picked the wrong one that her child wanted. Really hey people out there go to helidirect, heliproz or readyheli.com. I am sure this place is giving radio control a bad name, and taste. Heck airhog as a better report card then your helicopters do.
I tried to edit my post but i watched a girl, (not a guy) The guy in my post is that retard with the backwards yellow glasses, who thinks he is cool. so much for him having a brain.
Steve- what im saying is.. what do people really think that when u crash & break it & take it back to the kiosk expecting there billings money back or a new one!?! that is nuts!! how would any one stay in business!?
Troy- you said it wasnt working right out of the box.. you should of stoped right away packed it back up & bring it back for an exchange.. they are made in china of course there are going to be some bad apples! I hope they kick u out of the mall!!
JC your missing the stupid point, maybe your too dumb to see this and we should kick you out of the states for being dumb. I have witnessed people, literally buy a brand new one, not even open it, and still they will not exchange it. If they will not even exchange a new one, what your saying does not make any sense. The reason they stay in business is because they always make you buy a new one, or the parts cost as much as a new one. Wake up.
I give up!!
U people are really that dumb!!
Come on grow up people!!
U say they dont inform us!? U people are doing the same thing!
You guys know nothing! its just a toy!! go buy air hogs then!! it doesnt matter where u buy your freaking toy!! u will get riped off any were u go to buy one! they are all made in china!! kopter krazy is the only place i know i can get parts & free shiping!!!
I am just realizing that we have been scammed! It’s not just that we spent well over what the U2 Model sells for elsewhere, but that the thing is truly a piece of junk! I’m sure this Dave fellow is doing well for himself…but how long can this type of business model last? Surely he relies on new and naive customers to keep this type of a scam running. I can’t even complain about his salesmen there in the IF mall…the kid was nice and seemed to be well informed, but rather I regret not listening to the folks there at Hobby town. They warned me that these kiosks were a scam, but for what ever reason I thought I knew more! The point to this email is that this Dave fellow (owner of KopterKrazy) does all he can to keep his 99% dissatisfied customer comments out of sight (If you go to his Facebook page you can see that clearly he is editing) and that in no way should anyone, I repeat, ANYONE ever purchase a RC helicopter from DAVE or any other company that only comes out of the shadows during Christmas and does nothing to stand behind the product that he sales. Oh, and the U2 model that I purchased doesn’t just not respond to the RC but the motor inside is making a terrible noise and I have no idea what happened because I was with my boy 100% of the time he was flying and the helicopter never sustained any significant harm during any of the 3 crashes. I just feel bad for my son…..what a bummer for him!!! Dave…I’m sure you’ll continue to milk this scam as long as you can, I just hope all that read this post will pass the word on to anyone and everyone you can to steer clear of KOPTERKRAZY forever! Oh, and merry christmas!
Have you guys considered a class action law suit against Kopter Crazy, and against David individually? These postings here have been going on since January 2009 and there are 41 comments here! I’m not an attorney and do not have one to recommend to you. And I personally cannot be a part of that lawsuit because, after reading your comments, I changed my mind about buying one of these toys – and I thank you for your postings for that! But if you put a few dollars together, an attorney would be delighted to try and bring this company and its representatives to justice! That’s what class action lawsuits are designed for. And those of you who have been ripped off, would be entitled to some compensation. At a minimum, you’ve exposed this company and its reps!
Dave’s cell number is 208-724-xxxx (No reason to post his number), his wife’s cell number is 208-724-xxxx (no reason to post his wifes number). He definately is running a scam; sell once and never see you again. I did finally get my money back, but not before spoiling several sales for him at the mall, having three mall cops trying to head me out, a complaint with the mall office, and a heated yelling match with Dave on the phone. Spend some time at the location you purchased your kopter explaining Dave’s return policy, or lack thereof. While i was at the mall two days after Christmas, most people waiting were there with problems, not waiting to purchase. I spoiled a few sales and created a scene before i finally got my money back. That may be what it takes. DO IT!!
I had a great experience with KopterKrazy. We bought a total of six helis through the mall and have flown the heck out of them. Had a problem with one that never would fire up, and they offered either an exchange or refund. We took the exchange and flew the new one that night.
We’ve had over 20 micro helis in this household over the years, and these are by far the best we’ve come across.
Thanks Kopter Krazy!!!!
Yeah like I believe Darin, lets see all the helis and receipts, to just make sure your not one of the employees writing posts on here. I bet you are, I was at the mall, and the line was longer for complaints and pissed off people then there was people looking to buy. hmm what does that tell you all. I would think the class action law suit is great, we should post daves number on here that way he has nothing to hide and is always avaiable. Oh poor dave, are you worried you wont get any sleep. I would be.
The traffic to this website has almost tripled since December 23. The search term “Kopter Krazy” or some variation of it is what is bringing people to this site. Happy customers don’t search for the place they purchased an item from. I’d hate to be working at the kiosk these days.
I made another post where I thought Dave was “doin’ it right” but it seems the customers know better than I.
As far as posting his phone number, I’ve already edited it out of one comment post. I’m not going to take part in any potential harassment by posting his personal number. if you want his business number, you can find it through his domain name.
Kopter crazy sucks their parts are made of cheap plastic their quality sucks and I would recommend not buying anything from them. I bought their biggest helicopter they have problems with the remotes the remotes are made for a five channel but there’re helicopters are three channel so they’re not even the right remotes. Save your money and go somewhere else and buy something made of quality parts
I would like to begin by stating, if you are in the market for an RC Chopper do one thing first, do NOT allow yourself to purchase from Kopter Krazy without first researching their product vs. others that are available. Also, as we all know we have many options via the internet. I am one that prefers to purchase local especially when the owner is also local. In most cases a local business owner is concerned about their customers and because they live with them their integrity should also matter, Right?? Integrity to me should translate to a concern for customer service, Right? Here is my story. I purchased my chopper from the Boise mall. After spending an hour with the salesman, watching his demo, and hearing how durable the choppers are, he even cut the power on one from 6′ and let it hit the ground. Good trick with a specific chopper that has a size to weight ratio that will allow this. I assure you that may be the only chopper in their line that can perform this illusion of durability. I asked for a chopper that could be used outdoors as well as indoors. The salesman took me to a chopper that he assured me could be flown outdoors from a distance of 300′. This chopper lost signal from about 65 feet. I was informed this chopper was very responsive and very quick indoors or out. This chopper traveled quickly backwards and almost not responsive forward. Because of this it was very difficult to fly and the result was a crash in the weeds outdoors and broken landing gear. Repaired the landing gear and attempted to fly it indoors. Same result, the chopper flew well backwards and would barely go forward, another crash, another break in the landing gear. Frustrated, I contacted the owner (Dave) via email, explained my frustration, was informed of all the typical purchasers that have buyers remorse and the percentage of purchasers that are displeased are far less than those that are pleased. He offered to check the chopper out and fix any issues. Wow, this may be a good company and will actually take care of this apparently horibly manufactured chopper. Well, was I wrong! They had the chopper 8 days, replaced the landing gear and Tim (the manager) informed me there was nothing wrong with this chopper. I challenged him to fly it, which he did, same result, the chopper (under the control of a master operator) immediately flew very quickly backwards and was very difficult to fly forward. Frustrated over Daves attitude that there was nothing wrong, when it was very obvious it does not fly well forward, the conversation immediately went in the wrong direction. I informed Dave I would contact the BBB, his response “they don’t matter to me, you have to be a member, I can show you the letter they send out, it means nothing” I then stated they have a scam going and their products are junk. He then stated “don’t threaten me!” Threaten you, I will threaten you if that’s what you want! His response “you’re a pussy and I will meet you outside anytime” So I headed outside in which Dave followed right next to me. On the way he said in a low voice so nobody could hear, “I’m not afraid of you punk” alright we’ll find out soon! When we got outside he yelled for security, who happened to be within 20 feet, Dave told security I needed to be removed from the property immediately and then returned indoors to the kiosk. I spoke to the security guard and then returned myself, reunited with my wife, had another altercation with Dave who hit speed dial on his cell and had security there within 15 seconds. I started to leave but decided I really didn’t want the chopper I had purchased in good faith from this company. ($110 lesson) The security guard met me half way to the kiosk, I handed him the chopper and asked if he would give it to Dave as I had no use for it. If you do decide to purchase a chopper from Kopter Krazy look closely at the receipt, It states “No returns for opened or used items”. If you even open the chopper to look at it you cannot return it, Not something a reputable company that cares about customer satisfaction would do. Of course they don’t have a sign to state this nor does the sales staff inform you of this until you call with concerns. Believe me I know, I called after the first flight and the first thing I heard was “the chopper is not returnable if you have taken it out of the box. Beware and do your research, I am confident if you do you will choose a reputable company and not this one!
Rick Roeder, thank you so much for taking the time and writing in such great detail. I’m sorry about your experience with these rednecks and charlatans. But I want you to know that you’re making a difference. It’s people like you who go through the kind of trouble as you have that put these crooked businesses out of business! I certainly had entertained the idea to buy 2 of these helicopters. But changed my mind, thanks to people like you. With much gratitude,
Omg what lil cry babys!!!!
I used to work for Kopter Krazy for over a year. I have opend plenty of new kopters from Dave and they worked just great! about 5 out of 3,000 were bad apples. I fixed it and used it as a demo not a big deal!?!? I would say im suprised to see all the bad comments on here but… Ive had so many people lie to my face about how it never worked blah blah..first they want there money back then it goes to wanting a new kopter!! but whos the crook!?! Dave sells great toys at a great price! and tons and tons of parts on the website for when u break something on your toy kopter.. which u will do its only a matter of time.. they are very durable but not indestructible.. and for the people with the so called never would fly right.. if u dont think it is working correct take it back right away to exchange it for a new one which they will do if there isnt any damage!!! this is were the big problem comes.. do u think if u eat all your food at a restaurant and told the waiter that it was no good & that your not paying for it..?? U cant go home and break it to shit and think u get a new one!? Your the crook!!! Dave is a man just making money like the rest of us!! ok soo for the people still not sure if they want to spend money on these TOYS.. I really think you would love the micro helicopter called mini helicopter also known as the Raven which is only $34! so if you dont like it.. u didnt spend$50 & up.. but that was my FAV.!!
I say Dave is a great man & boss and sells fun toys! but dont take my word for it go check it out!
One more thing dont get discouraged if u talk to a bone head salesman contact dave through the website he will be more then happy to answer your questions!!
JC, I cannot speak for all the posts, only my own. You mention in the end of your post not to get discouraged by the bone head salesman that are at the kiosk. Unfortunately for 100% of the people that shop at the kiosk they have no option but listen to the salesman. Unfortunately Dave doesn’t hang out there much. In the end Dave chooses the people to represent his product. If they are, in your words, bone heads, it still falls on Dave. From my experience it does not seem to be by chance that every one of the sales staff at Kopter Krazy has the same protocol when it comes to dealing with the customer. By the way it is the customer that pays the bills and allows Dave to remain in business, not just the 3000 that you mention that happen to get a good chopper but the 5 that do not. What makes you think those 5 shouldn’t matter, aren’t they people with the same desire as the other 3000, I believe they are and they should be treated that way. My experience is real, not fabricated! Dave and his manager made a choice to completely disregard my concerns and treat me like i was insignificant. Tim even challenged me to a fight outside, he was shocked when I called his card and followed him out. You mention how the customers are crybabies, crooks, and only want their money back or a new Kopter. I made no requests for a new kopter or my money back, all I wanted was a kopter that performed as it was represented, in my case I guess I had one of the bone head sales people that Dave hired to work at the kiosk. I even had Dave’s best guy that carries the badge of “manager”. He too did nothing to take care of the issue even after flying the kopter in front of me and seeing that my claims were valid. I didn’t get a new kopter, I didn’t get my money back nor do I possess the kopter. It was worthless and my choice was to give it back. I will purchase another one at a future date, however, I can assure you I will do what I am asking everyone to do and that is research the product first and do not become a victim of the horrible customer service that I experienced with Kopter Krazy, from the salesman to the owner and then finally by the manager that feels it is appropriate to call a customer a pussy and walk them outside in an attempt to have a brawl vs take care of a simple issue! This is not how a reputable company conductss business!
In my original post dated 02/01/2012 I mistakenly named Dave as the individual I had the unfortunate experience with at the mall. Dave is the owner, the name of Dave’s manager is Tim, it is he that I had the interaction with at the mall and not Dave. Dave, the owner, is the one that I contacted by email, It is he, that to this day, still has not made any attempt to contact me, he has my money, my kopter and my complete disrespect as a reputable business owner. I truly thought Dave would look at all the facts and reconsider his position. He has made no such attempt to make this right! I can only hope that anyone looking to purchase an RC chopper for themselves or as a gift will do their homework, I am confident if they do they will choose a company and an owner with ethics and integrity!!
